Dr. Martin Krššák won IOP China Top Cited Paper Award
CGC former postdoc Dr. Martin Krššák, who spent 2019-2020 in our center, was awarded the Top Cited Paper Award in China (2022) for the review paper “Teleparallel theories of gravity: illuminating a fully invariant approach” [Class.Quant.Grav. 36 (2019) 18, 183001], of which he served as the corresponding author.
Teleparallel gravity, which includes f(T) gravity, describes gravitational field as the effect of spacetime torsion instead of curvature. There is, in fact, a teleparallel theory that is equivalent to general relativity despite the differences in their mathematical structures. When generalized, such theories becomes rather complicated and the nature of their degrees of freedom is more elusive than the curvature based approach. Dr. Krššák’s first major contribution to further understand teleparallel gravity was his joint work with Prof. Emmanuel Saridakis, “The covariant formulation of f(T) gravity” [Class.Quant.Grav. 33 (2016) 11, 115009], which has since accumulated about 240 citations according to InSPIRE data. His subsequent award-winning review now has about 170 citations.
Dr. Krššák is currently a postdoc at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia.
